Benefits

  • Builds confidence to set out what you want

  • Builds know-how to establish and maintain boundaries

  • Builds a personalised set of boundaries in your own language

Boundaries are something we say we need, however we’re it’s not truly obvious what they are.

Developing and maintaining boundaries is a skill and like any skill, it takes practice, some wins, some failures and some ‘oh wow I did’ that before your confidence truly evolves and its presence is felt.

How strong have your boundaries been this week?

  1. Consider the past 7 days;

How often have you found yourself unable to say ‘no’ to a friend, a work colleague, a family member resulting in you sacrificing your own needs for others resulting in your time and energy being used for others needs?

2. How has this impacted you?

Aside from your time being eroded, do you also remember what it felt like to realise you’re giving away your time unwillingly?

Experience feelings of dissatisfaction, frustration or resentment.

These are common yet difficult feelings to shake especially your life is busy enough. The experience is weighed down by the sense there is inequality or injustice. The moment the agreement was made you not only gave away your time but your power.

Becoming powerless is a defeating experience that creates a whole host of negatives feelings and critical inner chatter.

Reality Checker

A significant amount of you will never benefit from undertaking this type of self-development activity. Why? Giving up, not making the time, not trying out the new skills, priorities everything but yourself.

Give yourself a chance to finish what you’ve started.

Activity 1: Why Bother Exersize

Set out what you want to get from this activity. Once you’ve answered the questions, keep the answers somewhere safe so you can refer back to them.

The difference

  • How would life be different with having personal boundaries in place?

  • Who else would benefit from personal boundaries being in place

The test

  • How will you know you have set your first boundary?

  • How confident are you in setting your first boundary? Can you give it a score: scale: 1 low - 10 super high

  • What or who could get in the way?

The real reason

  • Why is this important to you? This message is a something to remind yourself when facing a challenge that gets in the way of creating personal boundaries of why somethings have to change.

REACHING THE FINISH LINE

At a basic level you’ll gain a sense of achievement, at an advanced level you will experience growth through learning & finding new strategies for life.
